Damned if you do, damned if you don't. The Catch-22 of growing a business:
Without attracting outside investment, how do you generate the crucial funds to hire experts to grow your business?
Some companies, whether new or ongoing, have approached us with the Catch-22 that many businesses face: they require expert marketing guidance that can put them on the road to increased revenues and profits, but lack the funds to get that process started.
To solve this challenge, Spiral Marketers began in 2001 to offer its services to its clients through custom agreements designed to minimize cash outlays.
It's our form of private equity.
How does it work?
As its contribution to the enterprise, Spiral Marketers brings its expertise, resources, international network, and commitment.
In return, our partners provide a percentage of enterprise equity -- minimizing their need for immediate cash outlays.
We continually examine new opportunities that offer mutually beneficial relationships. Of those, we only accept only two new partnerships per year. Most of those who don't make the initial cut think they're getting something for free. Nothing in life is free.
Spiral Marketers LLC is based in San Francisco and was founded by Bill Henthorn, whose past and present businesses include:
a real estate brokerage
wholesale/retail silk plant company
building contractors referral service
publishing company
real estate investment fund company
and Spiral Marketers.
Growing up in Honolulu, Hawaii, in a family where generals, ambassadors, and other power elites were dinner guests, Bill gained a deep sense of how the world really operates apart from the marketing and propaganda messages we see every day.
He attended Honolulu, Hawaii’s elite preparatory academy, Punahou School -- which has produced luminaries such as AOL founder Steve Case and US President Barack Obama and includes eBay founder Pierre Omidyar in its Punahou Family -- graduating one year after Obama.
Bill is the founder and president of Punahou NorCal, the official Northern California chapter of the Punahou Alumni Association.
He received his economics degree from the University of California at Berkeley.
In his first career, Bill owned a Honolulu commercial and investment real estate brokerage and counted circuit court judges, real estate developers, and other movers and shakers as his colleagues. His real estate deals included bringing a $50 million Hilton hotel to contract, and he personally represented a range of corporations and wealthy individuals from dozens of countries, including Canada, Australia, the Philippines, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Hungary, Papua New Guinea, and Liberia.
