What is a Mentor?

A mentor is someone who willingly shares his or her knowledge, wisdom, or expertise with another, a mentee, who is interested in receiving it.

Mentoring is a relationship of giving and receiving. Both the mentor and mentee have responsibilities:

  • Mentor: to share knowledge.

  • Mentee: having asked to receive such knowledge, to follow through in learning and in any actions required.

Nowadays, a mentor-mentee relationship can be established and developed via e-mail, in addition to the phone and with in-person meetings.
